Who is Chris Hadfield?
Chris Hadfield is known as many things, a test pilot, a musician, and an astronaut to name a few. Hadfield is currently a retired astronaut with the Canadian Space Agency, an engineer, and a former Royal Canadian Air Force Fighter Pilot. He helped to install Canadarm2, was the first Canadian to walk in space, has flown a space ship and served as a commander for the International Space Station. He has created many YouTube videos, written three books, is the father to three children (now adults), and even recorded his own album from the International Space Station.
When and where was he born?
Hadfield was born to Roger and Eleanor Hadfield on August 29th 1959. He was born in Sarnia, and raised on a corn farm in Milton, Ontario.
Who are his family members?
Hadfield is currently married to his high-school girlfriend Helene. Together, the two have three children: Kristin, Kyle and Evan Hadfield. Hadfield’s parents, Roger and Eleanor, still live near Milton.
Where did he go to school?
Hadfield graduated as an Ontario Scholar from Milton District High School in 1977, but had attended White Oaks Secondary School in Oakville until his senior year. Hadfield then attended Royal Roads Military College for two years before attending the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. He remained at the Royal Military College for two more years and received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1982. He continued to learn and did post-graduate research at the University of Waterloo in 1982, before studying at the University of Tennessee. In 1992 Hadfield had earned his Master of Science in aviation systems from the University in Tennessee.

Aside from traveling in space, flying aircrafts, and living up to his mustache, Hadfield enjoys a variety of things. He likes playing guitar, singing, writing, running, riding, playing volleyball and squash. He also enjoys skiing and actually taught both skiing and ski racing both part-time and full-time for 10 years.
